Jewish Teen Initiative (JTI) Program Coordinator Youth Director (Conservative Synagogue/ Adolescent Education Associate)

We are looking for an innovative, energetic person to assume the position of Jewish Teen Initiative (JTI) Program Coordinator for one local conservative congregation and Adolescent Education Associate for the Commission for Jewish Education.

Department Description:
The Jewish Teen Initiative is an outstanding Jewish Youth Program in the greater Palm Beach community. The Jewish Teen Initiative (JTI) is a department of the local Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County. We are the umbrella organization for all local youth programming on the community level; working with, and in some cases, directly overseeing, the local teen programs and synagogue-based youth groups.

The Jewish Teen Initiative is a change agent and continuously working to strengthen and build the local teen community. JTI is constantly growing and forming partnerships with additional local synagogues. Multiple professional development opportunities and excellent supervision are also provided by JTI and the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County. Youth Director (Conservative Synagogue)-Temple Torah, Boynton Beach, FL
-Overseeing the development and management of the youth groups:
-USY group for High School Students
-Kadima group for Middle School Students
-Noar group for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders
-Accompanying youth group members to Regional Programs
-Reaching out to ALL teen congregants and unaffiliated teens in the community and connecting them to Youth Programs
-Attending and assisting during High Holidays and Temple Festivals/Programs
-Attendance is required for religious services regularly and synagogue Staff Meetings
-Staffing Youth Committee meetings
-Presenting reports or information at Synagogue Board meetings, when appropriate
-Staffing JTI community-wide programs
-Writing monthly for the Temple Bulletin

Adolescent Education Associate

Teen Tzedakah Project
-Supports plan for recruitment
-Encourages engagement of participants through ongoing individual and group communication with teens and parents as requested
-Plans and implements programs as requested
-Promotes program to other JTI and other youth worker colleagues throughout the area

Winer Panim Program

-Supports recruitment of participants
-Promotes program to other JTI and other youth worker colleagues throughout the area
-Assists in planning and implementing the pre and post seminar experiential learning
-Support work for the Synagogue/Community Teen Education Think Tank

Education/Experience:

-Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in one of the following areas: Jewish Education, Jewish Studies, Social Work, Non-profit Management, Business Administration or similar.
-1+ years' experience working with Jewish youth either in synagogues, youth groups, camping, Hillel, JCC, or Israel.
-Willing to work nights and weekends with the teenagers and travel with the youth locally and overseas.
-Strong knowledge of basic office computing, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic database skills.
-Experience in budget management.
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required (Verbal and Written)
-Highly organized with proven ability to manage multiple tasks
-Sound work ethic and flexibility to get the job done
-Ability to think innovatively and creatively
-The ability to create positive relationships with teens and parents
-USY experience preferred

The staff person will work 2.5 days a week at the Synagogue and 2.5 days a week at the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County.

Compensation is based on education and experience.
